MANHATTAN — The New York Mets are reportedly still preparing to induct pitching great Dwight Gooden into the Hall of Fame, despite his arrest in New Jersey Tuesday for driving under the influence of drugs.

Gooden, 45, was arrested after alleging fleeing the scene of an accident while taking his son Dylan to school.

A club source told the Daily News that the Mets were still preparing to induct him on Aug. 1, along with Darryl Strawberry, former manager Davey Johnson and former GM Frank Cashen.

Goodenhas reportedly battled cocaine and alcohol addiction since he played with the Mets.

"This is very sad because I care about Doc and I worry about him," Mets broadcaster Keith Hernandez told the Daily News.
