MANHATTAN CRIMINAL COURT — Harassment and resisting arrest charges against Al Sharpton's ex-wife and daughter will be dropped if they stay out of trouble for six-months, prosecutors said Tuesday.
Dominique Sharpton and her mother Kathy Jordan were arrested and charged with misdemeanors after a profanity-laced traffic stop in Harlem on Oct. 30.
"Why the f*** am I getting a summons?" Dominique Sharpton shouted at police, according to the criminal complaint.
Her mother angrily came to her defense, the complaint said.
"Why the f*** are you locking her up?," Jordan allegedly said. "Get your f**king hands off her!"
They were charged with misdemeanors and initially failed to get the charges dismissed.
Their lawyer, Michael Hardy, called the stop a freedom of speech issue.
"This is what we deal with everyday. We will never accept unfairness," Al Sharpton, who was in court Tuesday, wrote via Twitter back on Nov. 1. "Dominique is grown and certainly can handle herself."
His ex-wife and daughter are due back in court in six months.
