MANHATTAN — New York's spring fling is over — for now.

Rain and cooler temperatures will move back into the area starting Monday, according to meteorologists.

A foggy Monday morning is expected to give way to a steady, heavy rain by evening with accumulations of more than an inch and a half by the time the storm moves away Tuesday night, according to AccuWeather.

Temperatures will also be cooler this week with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.

The wet weather will be a big change from the sunny, warm days of the past weekend when temperatures were more than 20 degrees above average for this time of year.

The heaviest rain is expected to fall overnight on Monday and may miss the Tuesday morning commute.

But it could spell trouble for parts of the tri-state area still reeling from the major storm on March 12 - 14.

Parts of Northern New Jersey have been flooded for more than a week because of that storm.
