MANHATTAN — The James Beard Foundation announced the nominees for its national culinary awards Monday, and many Manhattan restaurants and chefs have made the final cut.

TriBeCa's Locanda Verde and Midtown’s Marea are both in the running to win the award for Best New Restaurant.

Tom Colicchio of Gramercy Tavern and "Top Chef" fame earned an Outstanding Chef nomination for his restaurant Craft in the Flatiron District. Colicchio has won five James Beard awards in the past.

A pair of Manhattan’s most celebrated eateries, Mario Batali's Babbo and Daniel Boulud's Daniel, are nominated for Outstanding Restaurant, which is given to the restaurant that "serves as a national standard-bearer for consistent quality and excellence in food, atmosphere, and service," according to the James Beard Foundation.

Powerhouse New York restaurateur Keith McNally, whose newest offering Pulino's opened last week on the Lower East Side, is a contender for the Outstanding Restaurateur Award.

Jean Georges on Central Park West is in the running for the Outstanding Wine Service Award, while Paul Grieco from the East Village’s Hearth was nominated for the Outstanding Wine and Spirits Professional Award.

Grégory Pugin of Veritas in the Flatiron District earned a nomination for the Rising Star Chef of the Year Award.

The James Beard Foundation Awards ceremony will be held on May 3 at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall.
