HAMILTON HEIGHTS — A man was shot and killed while sitting in a car on Convent Avenue Thursday morning, across the street from City College.
Richard Cedeno, 25, was sitting in his 2003 Honda Accord around 12:52 a.m. when an unidentified male approached his vehicle and fired several shots into the passenger side of the car, police said.
Cedeno, who lived at 527 West 134th St., was shot several times in the torso while his car was parked in front of the entrance to 102 Convent Ave., according to police.
Crime scene tape was still up around the spot where the car, which was taken to an impound lot, once was parked. The street was blocked off and police investigators were still on the scene late Thursday morning.
A neighbor said Cedeno lived with his mother. Another resident of the building, who did not wish to be identified, said Cedeno "had many friends in the neighborhood."
He was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
