MANHATTAN — A man fell to his death from his 24th-floor Murray Hill apartment after his balcony apparently gave way, according to police.

Connor Donohue, 24, was found outside 330 E. 39th St. at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, police said. He is not believed to have jumped from the building.

“The connection between the fencing and the post was either loose or damaged prior to the incident,” a spokesperson from the Department of Buildings said.

As a precaution, the Buildings Department has ordered all building residents to stay off of their balconies pending the results of an engineering report.

Crews were putting up scaffolding at the building on Monday and Tuesday, in order to conduct the balcony tests, a construction worker at the building said.

Donohue was a dean of students at Prep for Prep, a nonprofit organization that prepares New York students for elite boarding schools, colleges and universities worldwide, the New York Post reported.

Some residents of the building said they worried for their safety on their balconies.

"The small railing on my balcony has not been attached fully since I moved in last September," said a tenant from the 28th floor who declined to give her name. "And it isn't safe."
