MANHATTAN — Diana Taylor, the mayor's girlfriend and former state banking superintendent, has reportedly been targeted by Republicans to run against U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

The New York Post reported that multiple sources said Taylor had been approached by Republican operatives from Washington, D.C. to run against Gillibrand in November's U.S. Senate election.

Gillibrand was appointed to the position by Gov. David Paterson last year after former Sen. Hillary Clinton was named Secretary of State.

Taylor is a registered Republican and twice served in the Pataki administration.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg reportedly first met her at a Citizens Budget Commission event in 2000.
