MANHATTAN — Keep the umbrellas and galoshes handy — rain, sleet and snow are in the mix for Manhattan this week.
The National Weather Service placed the borough under a hazardous weather outlook as heavy rain was expected to cause minor flooding in some areas Tuesday afternoon and overnight.
Despite the messy forecast, the city's schools are expected to remain open. Alternate side parking rules were in effect Tuesday.
As the rain moves out a second storm will move in bringing a potential for snow to the area starting Wednesday night, meteorologists said.
Manhattan is expected to get snow or a rain and snow mix that will continue into Friday along with below-average highs in the mid 30s, according to forecasters.
