MANHATTAN — How do you lose a giant passenger bus in Manhattan? You hide it in Queens.

Police went on a wild goose chase Wednesday searching for a Greyhound bus reported stolen in Manhattan that may have actually just been misplaced, according to several published reports.

The bus was first reported missing from a West Side maintenance facility on 12th Avenue on Feb. 14 and was allegedly spotted riding around the city, Gothamist reported.

However, MYFOXNY reported the bus wasn't actually stolen and was found in a maintenance yard.

Police scanner reports indicated that the bus "was not stolen, just misplaced."

Gothamist reported the bus was recovered by the NYPD in Queens, although a Greyhound spokesperson said he had no knowledge of its recovery.

The disappearing, reappearing bus was empty when it went missing, according to Greyhound.

"It had no passengers on board at the time," a Greyhound spokesman told Gothamist.

Public relations officials for the NYPD would not independently confirm if the bus was indeed stolen, misplaced or recovered.
