Police Hunt for Suspected Laptop Thief

MANHATTAN — Police are searching for a man suspected of swiping at least nine laptops and other items in a string of burglaries all across Manhattan.

Raymond Lewis, 53, is wanted for allegedly taking laptops, knapsacks and cash from in burglaries at the New World Theater, restaurants, university buildings and more.

The first robbery occurred on Lafayette Street during the early morning hours on Oct. 31, according to police. There have been eight similar burglaries since, including the latest on W. 50th Street in the morning of Jan. 10.

Lewis is described as described as a 6-foot-1 black male in his early 50s. Anyone with information in regards to his whereabouts is asked to call Crime stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
