WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — Washington Heights Billiard has lost its liquor license following a spate of stabbings and slashing at its W. 207th Street location.

The State Liquor Authority suspended the license on Wednesday after a handful of violent brawls, a spokesperson for the SLA told DNAinfo.

Since September this year, there have been five incidents that involved stabbings or slashings, according to the SLA.

“In less than a year in business, this establishment has amassed an appalling record of violence and lawlessness,” said the State Liquor Authority’s CEO, Trina Mead.

The pool hall had just been granted its liquor license in March 2009.

The emergency suspension of the license goes into effect immediately. The suspension was the result of a unanimous vote at a special meeting called with the SLA’s full board.

The State Liquor Authority said Washington Heights Billiards was also charged with falsifying information in its original liquor license application, selling alcohol to under-age drinkers and hiring an unregistered bouncer.

Owners of the billiards hall were not able to be reached at the time of publication.
