GREENWICH VILLAGE – Some revelers decked out in holiday garb for the Santacon bar crawl got a bit too naughty in Washington Square Park, according to police.

Police said they caught several partiers dressed as Santa drinking in Washington Square Park on Saturday and early Sunday, according to Twitter feeds and published reports.

Boozing in a public place can result in fines or even days in jail under New York City's open-container laws.

"There were 33 criminal court summonses issued for open containers," a police spokesperson told Gothamist. "All of these were in the confines of the 6th Precinct."

But one Twitter user said cops didn’t catch everyone. A post by illmatic56 yup said: “Security and cops aren’t even trying anymore. Earlier there were more Santas than not!”
