Al Sharpton's daughter and ex-wife appeared in Manhattan criminal court Monday to face charges over a Harlem traffic stop, in which they allegedly shouted profanities at a police officer and resisted arrest.
Sharpton's daughter Dominique, 23, and ex-wife Kathy, 53, have been slapped with numerous misdemeanor charges and violations.
Dominique faces two counts of disorderly conduct, for violent behavior and use of obscene language, as well as resisting arrest. Her mother has been charged with obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest and harassment in the second degree.
Prosecutors claim the women let the four-letter words fly on Oct. 30 when they were pulled over at 118th Street and Eighth Avenue.
"I didn't do s***! Get the f*** off me," Dominique yelled at an arresting officer, according to a report read by prosecutors in court.
But the Sharptons' attorney, Michael Hardy, said cursing at an officer is protected under the constitution.
"We still live under the constitution as far as I know," Hardy told reporters after the hearing.
"Since when did a verbal objection become criminal in America?"
The case was adjourned until Jan. 19.
