DNAinfo Midday Manhattan News Update

MANHATTAN — Good morning this is your update from DNAinfo. Another cold, rainy and windy day today. It's in the low 50s now highs today near 54.

In your headlines, self-proclaimed 9/ 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Guantanamo Bay detainees will be tried in a New York civilian federal court, according to the Associated Press. An Obama administration official told the AP that Attorney General Eric Holder would announce the transfer today.

In an anti-terrorism move, federal authorities want to seize a Midtown skyscraper. They've filed a suit saying companies that own the building at 650 Fifth Avenue have illegal ties to the Iranian government.

Pickpocketing, identity theft and grand larceny were all part of an indictment by the Manhattan DA yesterday. Prosecutors have charged 15 people with stealing more than $600,000 from their victims.

A bill that could make paid sick leave mandatory throughout the city has some Manhattan businesses worried about how to pay for it. DNAinfo spoke to small business owners as well as workers who might benefit.
