MANHATTAN — Legal and family troubles keep piling up for NY1 anchor Dominic Carter.

Police in Kansas City began a search for Carter's wife Sunday after the couple's daughter called authorities and said her mother was under "duress," the New York Post reported.

Marilyn Carter reportedly went missing from the couple's hotel room and was found the following morning at the airport on her way back to New York, police said.

The couple was in Kansas City for an NAACP dinner where Dominic Carter was scheduled to speak, the paper reported. Carter cancelled his speech, saying he didn't feel well.

Carter was suspended from hosting "Inside City Hall" following a court appearance where he faced charges of punching, kicking and choking his wife in October 2008.

Testifying in court, Marilyn Carter recanted her story and said her injuries resulted from an attack by a day laborer, not from her husband.

In his court appearance, Carter name-dropped Oprah Winfrey and other notables and called the charges against him "unfair," according to the Daily News.

"At this point, we have no plans to bring him back," NY1 spokesman Steve Paulus told the News.
