Jets receiver Braylon Edwards was charged Monday with misdemeanor assualt in connection to a fight outside of a Cleveland nightclub while he still played for the Browns.
The Pro Bowl wideout faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Days after the incident, Browns coach Eric Mangini traded Edwards to the Jets. The Jets said they were aware of the attack when they signed Edwards and called possible criminal charges a "manageable" risk, according to the Daily News.
"He has been cooperative with authorities and we will allow the legal process to run its course," the Jets said in a statement to the News.
Edwards is accused of punching Edward Givens, 28, a member of Cavaliers star LeBron James' entourage, after a night of partying following a Browns loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, the News reported.
