Brace yourself for massive subway service disruptions this weekend as the MTA performs maintenance work throughout Manhattan.
Almost no line is safe — of those that run on the weekends, only the 6 and the M have no scheduled maintenence. The MTA, however, said 6 train riders can still expect slow service throughout the weekend.
On the A, E, F, G, L and 5 lines, shuttle buses will replace trains along various segments of their routes. In Manhattan, buses replace trains on the A line between 207th and 168th streets.
"At this time of year we're performing work along the outdoor lines that cannot be done during harsh weather," NYC Transit spokesman Charles Seaton told the New York Post. "It doesn't happen every weekend, but there are times when you'll see this much construction activity along the lines."
Another seven lines — 1, 2, 7, B, N, J and R — will skip various stops on sections of their routes.
For a full listing of the service disruptions, check the MTA's Web site. Posters listing the various changes are up in subway stations as well.
Riders were already trying to figure out how they were going to get around this weekend.
"It's gonna be a problem for me, even to find an alternate train route," one unnamed straphanger told NY1.
"I can't take an alternate train route because they are all going to be affected. Not only that, weekends you expect to relax a little, you expect it to be smoother, easier, less crowded, more space."
