HYDE PARK — Rōti Modern Mediterranean helped raise $2,000 for the Hyde Park Art Center during its opening day Jan. 17.

The restaurant asked people to donate to the art center, 5020 S. Cornell Ave., during its first three hours of its opening day in exchange for a free entrée.

The deal convinced patrons pitched in $2,000 toward the art center, according to Jill Katz, a spokeswoman for Rōti.

The restaurant is the second to help out neighborhood institutions on its opening day.

On Tuesday, Nando’s Peri-Peri announced it donated $11,040 to Kenwood Academy after committing to donate all of its first-day sales to the school.
