SOUTH LAKEVIEW — One month after Schubas was sold, its new owners are hoping to add a beer garden to the beloved music venue.

The new owners — Bucktown-based company Audiotree and Michigan-based Greenleaf — are applying for a patio liquor license and want to place the beer garden in the parking lot south of Schubas and The Harmony Grill, both at 3159 N. Southport Ave.

Schubas will present the plans at a special South Lakeview Neighbors meeting Tuesday. Members will vote on the issue, forwarding their decision to 32nd Ward Ald. Scott Waguespack.

The special meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave. South Lakeview Neighbors' next regular meeting is scheduled for September. For more information about South Lakeview Neighbors, check out their June newsletter.
