MANHATTAN CRIMINAL COURT — A homeless man who's charged with beating an elderly woman with a wooden plank had an outburst in court Sunday night and had to be taken to Bellevue Hospital, sources said.

Andre Lineaux, 51, had to be subdued by court officers while awaiting his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court at about 9 p.m. He was brought to Bellevue Hospital psychiatric ward, where he was still in custody last Monday afternoon, a courts spokesperson said.

Lineaux is expected to face additional charges because of the outburst, sources said.

He had been arrested at about 6:15 p.m. on Saturday for the alleged assault with a 2x4 on a 74-year-old victim as she walked on Madison Avenue and East 40th Street at 6:15 p.m., police said.

Witnesses told DNAinfo they saw the victim with a pool of blood around her before she was she was rushed to Bellevue Hospital.

A spokesperson for the city's Department of Correction said there is no record of Lineaux having spent time in a city jail. He was awaiting arraignment on both arrests on Monday evening.
