Manhattan — Mayor Bloomberg won't be friending social media.
Hizzoner — who admits to loving his iPad — described Facebook and Twitter as timewasting rants about unimportant personal details.
A case in point — the Mayor's last check of a friend's tweets turned up ten messages about dropping a cup of coffee.
"Where do they get the time to do it?" Bloomberg asked on his weekly radio show Friday, according to the Daily News.
"There have got to be other things in life to do.
"The thing that surprises me is why people want to tell others what they're doing day in and day out. ...And you wonder, number one, what on earth? Why does anybody care?"
The Mayor doesn't have a personal Facebook page, and he admitted the social media pages of the mayor's office were managed by his staff.
He also warned that constant chatter about personal antics could come back to haunt users - particularly when they're trying to find jobs.
"Why shouldn't you try to find out about your employee before you hire him?" he asked, saying bosses would likely scroll through Facebook and Twitter accounts.
"And a kid put a picture of him or herself naked or, you know, just with his tongue sticking out?"
Bloomberg does, however, have respect for his fellow billionaire who founded Facebook.
"Mark Zuckerberg's done a heck of a job," he said.
