MANHATTAN — Lady Gaga avoids sex because she's scared it will sap her creativity, she told Vanity Fair.

In a revealing interview in the September issue of the magazine, the star discussed being, in her words, "quite celibate."

"I have this weird thing that if I sleep with someone, they're going to take my creativity away from me through my vagina," she tells the magazine.

“I’m perpetually lonely. I’m lonely when I’m in relationships. It’s my condition as an artist.”

Gaga also reveals her penchant for men she says are bad choices.

“I’m drawn to bad romances. And my song is about whether I go after those or if they find me."

The star also talks about her drug addiction, which led to a "low point [that] led to disaster," and being pulled away from the brink by her mother, Cynthia Germanotta.

“She said, ‘I’m gonna let you cry for a few more hours. And then after those few hours are up, you’re gonna stop crying, you’re gonna pick yourself up, you’re gonna go back to New York, and you’re gonna kick some ass,’” Gaga said, recounting her mother's instructions to her.
