The city now has until the end of 2018 to decide whether NYU's Bleecker St. site should become a school.
Parents want NYU to extend a year-end deadline for a new public school on Bleecker Street.
The DOE must commit to build a school on Bleecker Street by Dec. 31, or else NYU will retake the site.
Officials broke ground on P.S. 313, saying the new school will help overcrowding in Queens District 24.
The School Construction Authority wants to create middle school seats at 75 Morton St.
