A group trying to bring back the "Civic Virtue" statue says its new caretakers are rewriting history.
The borough president says she would like to see a monument to the accomplishments of women replace it.
The area where the statue once stood is surrounded by a graffiti-covered fence.
The controversial monument was placed in Green-Wood Cemetery on Monday.
The Queens borough president wants a public plaza to replace the Triumph of Civic Virtue statue.
