Nigel Chiwaya is a reporter/producer for DNAinfo, covering Washington Heights and Inwood.

A native of Springfield Gardens, Nigel previously worked at the Queens Ledger/Brooklyn Star newspaper group. While there he reported on sports; from little league baseball to the first Mets game at Citi Field. Nigel also covered the smartphone industry at HTCPedia.com.

Nigel earned his master’s degree from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, studied Communication Arts at New York Institute of Technology, and survived the New York Times Student Journalism Institute.

Fun Fact: Nigel was a child when the Yankees won the 1996 World Series. As a result, he knew that the Yankees were good long before he knew that New York had a second baseball team, let alone one in Queens.
