The latest show by the Bronx-based X Collective centers around a pictograph made of 26 impressionistic images, each corresponding to a letter of the alphabet — perhaps a new way to express thoughts and feelings in a world without words.

The show, in the basement gallery of a co-op building at 221 East 173rd St., features photographs, paintings and atmospheric installations meant to evoke a post-apocalyptic dreamscape.
