Snug Harbor Cultural Center will host a concert of sea shanties in celebration of Women's History Month.

The concert will feature an all female a cappella group made up of Esy Casey, Sarah Alden, Kate Ryan and Cassie Wagler. They will sing traditional sea shanties for half of the concert and accompany Bob Wright and Harbortown for the other half.

The concert will also feature the debut of Wright's original shanty, "Woman of the Harbor," about Julie Mindler, the first female accepted into Snug Harbor when it was a retirement community for sailors.

The event is free, with donations for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. The concert is sponsored by Con Edison, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and the Samuel I. Newhouse Foundation.
