THE BRONX — A man fatally stabbed his estranged wife in broad daylight blocks from her Morrisania home Monday morning, officials said.

Victor Garo, 50, attacked his wife, Adalgisa Degaro, 44, near the intersection of Home Street and Jackson Avenue about 8 a.m., NYPD officials said.

Degaro, who lived about four blocks away at on Home Street, was pronounced dead at Lincoln Hospital.

Garo fled, but family helped investigators track him down and he was arrested about 10:40 p.m. for murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

Garo was awaiting arraignment Tuesday morning.

Police had been called to their home once in 2014 for a report of a verbal dispute, an NYPD spokesman said.

Police said the two had become estranged recently and that Garo was living in Highbridge on Townsend Avenue.

Garo was arrested in 1998, but an NYPD spokesman didn't provide further details because the record is sealed.
