MANHATTAN — A grandmother and her 4-year-old granddaughter were seriously hurt after a cab driver struck them in East Harlem Friday afternoon, according to officials.

The cabbie pulled out of a gas station at East 102nd Street and Lexington Avenue at about 2:59 p.m. when the car lost control, struck a telephone pole and then hit the 60-year-old woman and child, according to the FDNY and NYPD.

Responders found the victims lying in the road. They were rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and were expected to survive, officials said.

The driver remained at the scene and was not immediately arrested or given a summons, an NYPD spokesman said.

The investigation is ongoing.
