MIDTOWN — Officials found a woman dead inside her home Monday afternoon with burns on her body — and sources believe she may have been killed after her clothes caught fire while she was cooking.

Officers responded to the 34-year-old woman’s building at 9 W. 31st St., between Broadway and Fifth Avenue, around 3:12 p.m. on Monday and found her unconscious in her bathroom with burns on her torso, the NYPD said.

A super at the luxury building known as Tower 31 first discovered the woman inside her bathroom after neighbors heard her smoke detector going off, sources added.

The woman’s clothing may have caught fire while she was cooking, sources said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, and an investigation is ongoing, the NYPD said.
