3 Men Try to Buy $500 in Groceries Using Fake Credit Card, NYPD Says

THE BRONX — Police are looking for three men they said tried to buy more than $500 worth of groceries using a counterfeit credit card in Morrisania.

The men tried to use the fake card to purchase $526 of provisions at a Food Bazaar on East 163rd Street between Brook and Washington avenues at about 7:08 p.m. on May 2, according to the NYPD.

An employee confronted the men after realizing the card was fraudulent and they fled in a U-Haul van.

All three suspects are between 20 to 30 years old. The one who tried to use the card had on a gray sweatshirt with a logo of New Jersey on the front, according to surveillance video.

The second suspect had on a black Adidas jacket and the third man had on a dark long-sleeved shirt.
