BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — What a tool.

Police need help finding a bumbling burglar who they say has tried breaking into three different homes over the past week — with his only successful heist coming when he grabbed cleaning supplies and hardware from a storage room.

The thief tried getting into a building on Jefferson and Nostrand avenues April 13 around 10 p.m., but he couldn’t gain access. He caused minor damage to the door, police said.

He tried his luck again the next day around 5:10 a.m. at a building on Jefferson and Putnam avenues, but he couldn’t get in that time either. Once again, he damaged the door, the NYPD said.

On Tuesday, he finally made it inside a building on MacDonough Street near Marcy Avenue around 5:10 a.m. by using a crowbar. He then pranced around a supply room for at least a minute and grabbed some tools and cleaning supplies worth more than $1,500, police said.

The suspect is believed to be about 5-foot-10-inches tall and 35 to 45 years old.

He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with red lettering on the front, gray sweat pants and gray New Balance sneakers. He’s known to push a blue shopping cart around, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
