Bushwick Woman Awoken By Burglar Who Exposed Himself, Police Say

By Gwynne Hogan | March 29, 2017 1:50pm | Updated on March 30, 2017 6:29pm

BUSHWICK — A burglar crept into a woman's bedroom from her fire escape as she slept Saturday morning and startled her awake by exposing himself at her bedside, police said.

The terrified 30-year-old woke up about 6:45 a.m. inside her apartment near Greene and Irving avenues and screamed when she saw the stranger, who police said was slim and wearing a black hooded jacket, towering beside her bed.

The woman's roommate rushed in, spooking the burglar who darted from the apartment through the front door, according to police.

The man has not been arrested as of Thursday evening and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Investigators were testing a beer can left at the scene to see if there was a DNA match to people in their database, an NYPD spokesman said.
