BROOKLYN — A group of thieves have made off with roughly $86,000 by attacking and robbing people in or near their cars in Brooklyn since November, NYPD officials said.

The group, who can be seen in police footage released Sunday, put a gun to one man's head, yanked him from the car and put another man in a chokehold before throwing him to the ground, officials said.

All the victims were transporting large sums of money for their respective businesses, an NYPD spokesman said. It wasn't immediately clear what businesses they were.

In the first attack, one suspect put a gun to a 62-year-old man's head as he was about to get into his van near Coney Island Avenue and Slocum Place about 6 a.m. on Nov. 28, police said. The second suspect opened the van and took the keys, a cellphone, $5,000 in cash and $40,000 in checks, police said.

The suspects escaped in a waiting black SUV, police said.

They robbed the same man again on Jan. 26, barricading his car between their two vehicles outside 457 Senator St., police said. One of the suspects opened the victim's door, yanked him out and stole the car — with $9,000 in checks and $12,000 in cash inside, police said.

Investigators later found the discarded vehicle near 68th Street and Seventh Avenue. The checks and cash were gone.

On Feb 6, one of the suspects put a 31-year-old man in a headlock as he walked to his parked van outside 1844 Bath Ave., police said. He threw the man to the ground and stole his cellphone, wallet and a bag carrying about $20,000 in cash and checks, police said.

Another suspect tried to yank a 22-year-old man from inside the parked van, but wasn't able to. The two suspects hopped into a waiting Nissan Maxima and fled the scene, police said.

One suspect is described as being in his 30s, bald and has facial hair, police said. Another suspect wore a black skull cap with a dark jacket, police said.

Investigators didn't describe the getaway driver.

The suspects hadn't been arrested as of Monday morning, police said.
