QUEENS — The first vegan restaurant in Forest Hills which shuttered shortly after opening last month is expected to welcome customers again Sunday after "restructuring."

Heart Beet Eatery, at 100-05 Metropolitan Ave., took over the space previously used by Lebanese restaurant Wafa’s.

But the new business abruptly closed shortly afterwards without explanation.

Co-owner Rene David Alkalay, who also founded the nearby Genesis Tree of Life Yoga and Wellness Center and co-owns the popular Red Pipe Organic Café on Austin Street, said the restaurant will reopen on Jan. 15, according to a post on the yoga center's Facebook page.

“We are working on some licensing and some legal restructuring,” he told DNAinfo New York.

“As soon as this legal situation is resolved we will reopen and stay open.”

Alkalay added that the restructuring included a split with his business partner, and that he's currently working with the restaurant's chef to revise the menu to make it “fine dining."

The restaurant, which is also organic and kosher, offers a mixture of cuisines and dishes, including gourmet pizza and sushi.
