BROOKLYN — A massive fire broke out on a residential Bushwick block Monday afternoon, displacing 30 people and injuring two firefighters, according to officials.

The blaze started on the top floor of 420 Evergreen Ave. near Menahan Street at about 3:33 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said. The fire quickly spread to the attic and into the top floors of the two adjoining buildings. It was brought under control about 5:44 p.m.

Thirty people in seven households were displaced by the blaze, according to the Red Cross.

Five of those families needed emergency housing, the charity said.

The two firefighters suffered minor injuries and were taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center

There was no immediate information on the cause.
