VIDEO: NYPD Looking for Man Who Snatched Cellphone From Straphanger's Hand

LOWER MANHATTAN —  A woman tried to chase down a robber who grabbed her cellphone from her hands as they were riding the 5 train, police said.

The man snatched the phone as the train was approaching the Brooklyn Bridge station in Lower Manhattan at about 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 3, police said. He proceeded to run out at the stop, with the victim, 33, chasing after him — but she tripped on a staircase and cut her leg before she could reach him.

Police describe the man, seen in the surveillance video below leaving the station, as about 18 to 20 years old, 6 feet tall and weighing 150 to 175 pounds.
