MANHATTAN — Chelsea bombing suspect Ahmad Khan Rahimi pleaded not guilty to federal terrorism charges Thursday, the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s Office confirmed.
Rahimi, 28, was indicted Wednesday and charged with using a weapon of mass destruction to bomb Sixth Avenue and East 23rd Street on Sept. 17 and injuring dozens of people.
Rahimi pleaded not guilty to the eight-count indictment in Manhattan Federal Court, said a spokeswoman from the U.S. Attorney’s office.
He has also been charged with attempted murder for opening fire on two officers who tried to apprehend him days after the bombing.
Rahimi faces a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted of the federal charges.
