YORKVILLE — Police are searching for a group of three young men and a woman who worked together to install a skimming device on the ATM of a local bodega, according to the NYPD.

The group walked into Blue Moon Deli, at 1773 First Avenue, at East 92nd Street, and while a man and a woman distracted a 30-year-old employee, two others installed the device meant to record credit card information from unsuspecting users, police said.

The skimmer, which police described as a fake panel containing a pinhole camera, was installed at about 3 p.m. on Oct. 20, and wasn't discovered until two days later by a manager who immediately called 911.

The deli's manager, Izzy Alsyidi, said it was the first time the shop has been hit by scammers.

"I was shocked," he said. "It's scary. We caught it and called the cops."

Police found both a reader for the key board and one for the card reader, according to the worker.

Video surveillance released by the NYPD shows the group talking and laughing as they walk down a sidewalk.

The four suspects are described as being between 25 and 35 years old.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477)
