Obama Is Planning to Give Trump Some Extra Tutoring

After meeting with President-elect Donald Trump last week, President Barack Obama was reportedly “plans to spend more time with his successor than presidents typically do” because of how little Trump knows about the responsibilities and duties related to running the country, according to New York Magazine. People familiar with the meeting also said that Trump aides did not realize that the entire presidential staff working in the West Wing would have to be replaced after Obama's departure, according to the Wall Street Journal. Google and Facebook to Ban Fake News Sites

Both Google and Facebook announced on Monday that they would change their advertising policies to cut service to websites that publish fake news, according to the New York Times. People have been criticizing both companies for pushing fake news sites, which critics say helped win Trump the election. [New York Times]

Post-Election Donations to Progressive Causes and Non-Profits Surge

Planned Parenthood has received close to 80,000 donations in the week following the election and the organization is not alone. Groups devoted to causes that run counter to Trump’s policies and rhetoric have seen record numbers of gifts, the Atlantic reports. The ACLU and the Anti-Defamation League saw huge influxes in donations and the Council on American-Islamic Relations received more than 500 volunteer applications, to name a few examples. Twitter Adds Tools to Combat Online Harassment

The social media platform is responding to longtime complaints about online abuse and harassment with a set of new features to be rolled out this week, giving users the ability to filter out and block tweets that contain certain words or hashtags, and to report instances of hate speech even if it’s directed at another user. Lebron James and Phil Jackson Beef Over ‘Posse” Comment

During an interview, New York Knicks’ president, Phil Jackson, said NBA superstar Lebron James wanted special treatment with his family and "posse" which led to a drift between him and Miami Heat president, Pat Riley, and James' ultimate departure from the team in 2014. The comment infuriated the superstar’s business partner and high school teammate, Maverick Carter, who called out the language as disrespectful on Twitter. [ESPN]
