75-Year-Old Man Assaulted on Rego Park Street, Police Say

By Ewa Kern-Jedrychowska | November 14, 2016 2:49pm

QUEENS — A 75-year-old man was assaulted after he slipped while crossing the street in Rego Park and grabbed onto a woman walking next to him, police said.

The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the intersection of 63rd Drive and Booth Street when police said the man slipped. To stop himself from falling, he grabbed a woman walking next to him, according to Captain Robert Ramos, the commanding officer of the 112th Precinct.

The man the woman was walking with became upset, and punched the 75-year-old man twice in the head, causing him to fall, police said. The suspect then kicked the victim in the ribs.

"I don’t know what he was thinking," Ramos said at a recent Community Board 6 meeting.

The couple, who are in their 30s, walked away “like nothing happened,” Ramos added.

The suspect was described as approximately 6 feet tall and weighing around 180 pounds. The woman he was with was last seen wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and white sweatpants, police said.

The victim refused medical treatment and there were no arrests as of Monday morning, police said.
