QUEENS — A teenage driver fatally struck his 75-year-old grandma with an SUV as he backed into the driveway of her Bellerose home, the NYPD said.
The 17-year-old grandson was backing a Toyota Sequoia into the driveway of 83-12 267th St., near 83rd Avenue, when he hit Chandrawati Lathan about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, police said.
Lathan was taken to North Shore Long Island Jewish Hospital but couldn’t be saved.
Her grandson remained on scene and hasn’t been charged, police said Monday morning.
