PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS — A Clinton Hill-based Italian restaurant is set to open their second location in the area this winter, its owners said, bringing regional Italian cuisine to Nostrand Avenue.

Da Ciro on Nostrand will be an extension of Da Ciro Brooklyn, the Myrtle Avenue location that offers a menu full of wood-fired pizza, gourmet pasta dishes and classic Italian plates like fried calamari and caprese salad.

The new spot, located at 1146 Nostrand Ave. between Midwood Street and Rutland Road in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, will seat between 50 and 65 people and have a full bar, said co-owner Victoria Frignani at Community Board 9 last week where she applied for a liquor license for the restaurant.

The board approved the application with 25 yes votes, three nos and one abstention. But Frignani assured residents Da Ciro the restaurant is “more about the food” than the bar and would only be open until 10 p.m. on weekdays and 11 p.m. on weekends.

When Da Ciro opens in the new year, the restaurant plans to hire 13 to 15 people, she said.

The Italian spot is the latest in a series of new eateries to open on Nostrand Avenue recently. De Ciro will share a block with relative Prospect-Lefferts Gardens newcomer Desserts by Michael Allen. A few blocks away, Starliner Cafe and Market just celebrated their first year on the avenue, Rain Eatery and Juice Bar opened this summer and Salem’s House Cafe opened earlier this month.
