HARLEM — An actor fell to his death from the room of his West Harlem apartment building, police said, after he forgot his keys and attempted to get back into his apartment using the fire escape, according to reports.

Noah Witke, 25, slipped and fell to his death from the roof of his apartment building at West 134th Street at approximately 5 a.m. Sunday, the NYPD said.

When officers arrived, they found Witke lying on the ground with head trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Witke worked at the Film Society of Lincoln Center and had been out celebrating the end of the New York Film Festival at Tavern on the Green, according to the New York Post.

Police believe Witke had forgotten his keys and tried to get into his apartment building via a fire escape, according to the paper.

In 2009, Witke graduated from Staples High School in Westport, Connecticut, and was a member of an acting group called the Staples Players before being trained at the Juilliard School. He was also a member of the UP Theater Company in Manhattan.

On social media, friends and acquaintances offered condolences.

"Noah will be remembered by the Players community as a talented actor with a kind and gentle heart. We will miss him and are sending our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends," wrote one friend.

"You will forever be at center stage in my memory," another friend wrote on Facebook.
