Brooklyn Man Pays Mugger $100 to Return Cellphone, Police Say

WILLIAMSBURG — A Brooklyn man chased down a thief and convinced him to return his stolen phone for $100, police said.

A teen swiped the 22-year-old man's smartphone at the corner of Scholes Street and Bushwick Avenue on Oct. 5 at around 3:30 p.m. while the man was walking down the street playing a game on it, police said.

The man took off after the teen, following him a block, where he soon caught up with him and managed to convince the teen to return is phone in exchange for $100, police said.

No one had been arrested as of Wednesday morning, police confirmed.
