MORRISANIA — A building that houses multiple Bronx schools was evacuated Tuesday after a work crew hit a gas main, officials said.

The Department of Environmental Protection was working to repair a leaking hydrant valve near the school when workers struck a gas main and caused a leak, necessitating the evacuation, according to Con Edison.

All students, faculty and personnel were cleared from Morris Educational Campus, located at 1110 Boston Rd., when fire officials got a call around 10:30 a.m. to come to 166th Street and Jackson Avenue, according to the FDNY.

The building houses the Bronx International High School, the High School for Violin and Dance, the Morris Academy for Collaborative Studies and the School for Excellence.

No health problems were reported, and the schools have since been told to return to the building, officials said.
