MIDTOWN — A bandana-wearing bank robber fled a Midtown branch with cash after passing the teller a note demanding money, the NYPD said.

The thief first entered the Valley National Bank at 1040 Sixth Ave., at West 39th Street, around 7:50 a.m. on Tuesday and gave the teller the note, police said.

After the teller handed over an unspecified amount of money, the thief fled, the NYPD said.

Police are now searching for an approximately 50-year-old man, weighing 200 pounds, standing 5-foot-10, with black hair and a dark beard, who was last seen wearing a dark blue jacket, a black hat, a red bandana and gray sneakers.

A spokesman for Valley National Bank declined to comment due to the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
