JACKSON HEIGHTS — The Port Authority is hosting a public workshop to discuss persistent plane noise — which has risen dramatically over the last few years in the neighborhood.

The agency will share information from the Part 150 study, the agency's noise plan being created for LaGuardia Airport, at an "open house" Thursday at the LaGuardia Airport Marriott, 102-05 Ditmars Blvd., East Elmhurst.

The three-hour event runs from 6 until 9 p.m., with discussions and feedback shared throughout, according to the Port Authority.

Residents in neighborhoods surrounding the airport with noise concerns can share them one-on-one with officials from the Port Authority.

Data released last month by Queens Quiet Skies, a civic group focused on plane noise throughout the borough, found airplane traffic increased nearly 80 percent since 2008.

The Port Authority is currently taking comments on its draft noise study, which is available online as well as the Port Authority headquarters, and Jackson Heights and Flushing library branches.

It will take comments at Thursday's meetings, through email at NYPART150@panynj.gov and by mail to its headquarters.

The deadline for comments is Oct. 24. For more information on submitting comments, visit the Port Authority's site.
