BROOKLYN — A shirtless man harassed and attacked a passenger aboard the F train late last month, police said Saturday.

The victim, a 38-year-old man, was riding the southbound train on Aug. 20 about 9:20 p.m. when he was approached and threatened by the shirtless man, wearing colorful jeans, blue sneakers and a gold necklace, police said.

When the train arrived at the Fourth Avenue-Ninth Street subway station, the victim tried to exit the train, but the shirtless man punched him in the face and knocked him to the ground, causing a head injury, according to police.

The victim took himself to Methodist Hospital, where he was treated and released, police said.

The NYPD on Saturday released photos of the man, who they said was in his late 20s, between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall and about 170 pounds.

Anyone with information in regards to the alleged assault is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1(800)577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1(888)57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by texting 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577. All calls are strictly confidential.
