Police Looking for Man Who Slashed Park-Goer With a Box Cutter

CHINATOWN — Police are looking for a man they say slashed someone with a box cutter in Columbus Park on Saturday before fleeing into a nearby subway station.

The 36-year-old male victim was sitting on a park bench near Baxter Street and Hogan Place at around 10:40 p.m. when the suspect approached him and slashed him across the left arm with a box cutter, police said.

The victim was transported to New York Presbyterian Hospital with a cut on his left arm and was in stable condition, according to authorities.

After the attack, the assailant fled into the Chambers Street subway station, according to authorities.

Police have released surveillance photos of the suspect, described as a bald man standing at around 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds, last seen wearing a gray tank top.
